Dirt Racing Results:
June 12th: Season opener at Flying Pines in Balsam Lake, Wi. Well the day started out ok. Miki was doing well in practice and then all heck broke loose. The first heat was not to bad. She found her kart not running right today. She came off the track saying her carb was loading up and fouling out the plug. Changed plug and then onto the second heat. Not good. Plug slapped shut and engine sounded terrible. Miki started the feature and found her kart acting the same way so she raised her hand and pulled off the track. Way to go, Miki. That was the move of a true racer.
June 19th: Got the engine back from the builder on Saturday and got all ready to go to the track. Miki seen a Wing Sprint Driver getting his car ready for the races at Cedar Lake Speedway and wanted to stop and talk to him. His name is Scott Young, he comes from Union Grove, Wi. He allowed Miki to sit in his car and her answered all kinds of questions she had for him. He gave her some photos and we went home and gave him some of Miki. Whatever he told her gave her the inspiration to out and race hard. Of which she did. In her first heat she started on the pole and took a commanding lead and found herself with her very first win(EVER). Way To Go, Girl. In the second heat her position was dead last. She came home with a 2nd place finish for this one. The feature race found her starting on the outside pole. Well, here we go, First place took off with a shot. She was racing against the 3rd place kart until the hit turn 1, then she had to let him go as he had the line. Ok, turn 2 she stays low, he went wide and she had sencond place. Miki and the next 2 karts fought hard for 2nd place throughout the next few laps, then a late caution flag flew and Miki found herself back to 3rd. She hits the green flag, flies past 2nd place taking 4th place(Adam Ayotte) with her. Now they were trying to play catch up with first place, but they settled for a 2nd and 3rd place finish. What a Father's Day present for Dad. Miki's first ever dirt track trophy and she did it in style. Oh yea, on the starting grid they told the kids this was a money race too. They were racing not only for a first place trophy but, also $100. What a race this one turned out to be. She also received from Del a t-shirt that says FRONT "I Drive Faster Than Boys" On the BACK "Deal With It". What a day this little girl had. We are really proud parents, can you tell. Next week onto Mid-Season Championships at Thunderhill Speedway. Hope it Goes well.... See next week.
June 25th: Well, it was Mid Season Championships at Thunderhill Speedway and Miki was off to a great evening. The hotlap session was great, she ran harder down here than she ever did. Her first heat went ok. She came in 4th in this heat. 2nd heat was not so great, well not at the end. They had 2 karts battling for the lead and one of the karts ended up in the infield and just didn't stay there, he shot back out onto the track and here comes Miki, no where to go, and Wham right into him nose first. To make matters worse here comes another kart and Smack right into the back of her kart. Miki was a little shaken up but her kart was alot of shaken up. Kart was not in running order for the feature even though she wanted so badly to make a excellent run for her engine builder, as he was one of the sponsors that night. Next year at this event will be Miki's I can feel it. Next week we are back at Flying Pines in Balsam Lake, Wi.
July 3rd: What can we say about today, let's see. Her kart was more shaken up than what we thought. Her frame was bent after last weekends race incident. In her first heat she got about one lap and wham here comes her and another kart up the track towards the fence. Miki knew enough that your brakes only work on the track not the grass. Only the other kid was on top of her and her kart and on the gas, but she did get them both stopped before they hit the fence. Then her floor pan broke loose and she had to pull off. Second heat she did alright she came in 4th. She did her best with the kart and in the feature line up she started 4th. She moved to the back of the pack to see just what her kart could do. She got comfortable with her kart and caught up with 3rd place and was going for the pass and her spark plug boot fell off. She finished 5th. Not a bad day after all.
July 10th: We got a different chassis from one of Miki's ice racing buddies and spent 10 hours Saturday working on the kart to get it ready for Sunday. First heat was getting to know the the new kart. Second heat her foot pedals came loose and throttle was not able to open up. Feature she came in 5th. One day this will all be a bad memory...ha ha ha. She will have her day and season. Next week we are taking the week off to get things all set up for her.
July 24th: Miki started the day on another new chassis. This is the chassis she is going to use for "King of the Dirt", It was borrowed from the Bear Family, they thought she should get a feel for this chassis before the Big race. So we got it all ready and we setup numbers wrong. But, she was already for next week. She didn't do too bad today though, not for getting the feel of a different chassis, again. On to next week.
July 31st: Cancelled due to repairs.
August 5th: This is a scheduled time off for the racers and Miki made the most of it. On August 6th, Miki went to the Big races at Cedar Lake Speedway and met some really cool people there this year. Not only did she talk to the racers like Scott Bloomquist, Chub Frank, Rick Eckert, Tim McCreadie, Dale McDowell, and Josh Richards. Miki met the guys from Team Extreme Motorsports, they run R/C cars and trucks at different events. They have a link to our website and we have one on ours. Please check out some of the things they do.
August 14th: This is one our last races and Miki was running great. She had a 2nd, 3rd and 6th place finishes today. Next sunday is our last points race.
August 21st: Miki was running tough today even though at the end of the day we found out that her engine was not up to par due to overtightening of the spark plug. But Miki had good finishes. She finished 4th in the feature and at the end of the day ended up 5th in points for the season. Not bad for the problems that we had at the beginning of the year.
Sept 3rd: The big race "King of the Dirt" has been cancelled. Miki was quite disappointed at this fact, but she is now gearing up for the start of school and for her Ice Season. Keep checking back to see how her ice races are going once the lake freezes over. See you all then. Thanks for keeping up with our site and our little girl.
