2006 Dirt Results:
April 29th: Thunderhill Rain Out.
May 6th: The first night of the new race season saw Miki sitting on the pole in her first heat. It also lead to a 2nd place finish. Her second heat they invert and found herself sitting last, it took her a few laps to find a way around a few new drivers a she came home 3rd in this race. Her feature she started 5th and came home in 5th. Not bad for only her 4th race at Thunderhill and the first race of the new season. Come see how she does next week.
May 13th: Rain Out
May 20th: It was just an ok night for Miki. She came home with 2, 4th place finishes for her heats and an 8th for her feature. Not one of her better nights. It will only get better for her.
May27th and 28th: Ok here it goes. Saturday we found ourselves with 2 hours before leaving for the track and switching chassis as Miki tweeked her one chassis again. We get there with time to spare and Miki had a great night. First heat she came home with a 5th place, after she was sent to the back for causing a goofy yellow, and made up 3 spots in 2 laps. Second heat Miki came home in 2nd. Feature time and Miki was excited she wanted a trophy and she made it happen. Miki came home with her first ever Thunderhill Trophy.
Sunday was a little different. She was doing ok, a little ice racing experience used well. The track was dry and dusty. We chased tires alnight long. We finally set it up good enough for her 2nd heat and she came home with a 3rd place finish. Ok, feature time, well as parents always know best, we over prepped her tires and Miki was not very happy with us. Miki had a 4th, 3rd and 6th place finishes for Sunday. Hope it all works out better this weekend. And never second guess you driver, when she says her kart was ok leave well enough alone. See you next week.
June 3rd: Miki was struggling a little tonight. Her kart would not hook up for her and the back end looked like she wanted to go around, but she hung on to it. Miki started 9th in the feature, missed 2 spinouts and came home in 5th place on a dry, slick track. Definately not her favorite track condition. But all is well and she will be there Saturday night to try again.
June 10th: It was alright tonight. Miki had a 3rd,4th, and 5th. It is getting better for her as the season goes on.
June 17th: Miki had a new experience, she got to carry the American Flag around the track while they played The National Anthem. Miki did our Country proud, the flag was standing straight up and also straight out. The races were ok, Miki came home with a 4th, 5th, and 6th place finishes. Mom and Dad really need to learn how to read that track and when Miki says the kart was ok and to leave well enough alone, leave it alone. The track was good in the first heat, kinda went slick in the second heat and then went back to good in the feature. Only we prepped for slick. We will know better next time.
July 15th: Sorry it has been a while since any updates. We were in the process of moving and taking care of that stuff. Miki has continued to hold onto 3rd place points at Thunderhill. We will try to update every week from now on. Next race will be July 22nd. See ya next week.
July 22nd: Well it was a very busy day. Went to Alton's to get Miki's kart setup. Went great. Miki was having a good time, just took a few tweaks at the track. she had a 6th place in the feature. the kart handled great just have to get rid of a few extra pounds. Till next Saturday, looks to be a WARM one.
August 25th: The season has ended, not the one we would of hoped to have had, but, Miki had a great time racing. We finished 7th in points this season. Thanks to all of Miki's sponsors for the great year, look forward to next season. Miki is not done racing this year yet. We are thinking of taking in a show in Superior and maybe Blue Earth.
Miki made alot of new friends and got to see some of her old ones. All in all a good year for us. Thanks to Mark Alton and Sons for setting up her kart, Mike our pit partner, and all the rest of the great people at Thunderhill. Thanks to Belisle Excavating, Discount Karting, Hawk Racing Engines, EVS Sports and Kwik Trip of Baldwin for everything they have done for us.
On Sept. 9th Miki will be in the pits at Cedar Lake Speedway for a half-time show. She will get to see how things work for the big wings and see how it feels to run a "Big Track". Hope you can come see her then. Miki may be testing out Flying Pines on Sept. 3rd also. Till next year. Thanks for everything.
